This event aims to raise awareness of the devastation caused by the earthquake in Haiti. Already an impoverished nation, the disastrous events on 12 January this year, mean that even more people are living in the most horrendous conditions. Kain is involved in a project, which was established before the earthquake occured, to help orphans in the area.

Did you know research shows that students are one of the most at risk groups for contracting meningitis and septicaemia, yet they're often the least aware of the signs and symptoms?
Meningitis and septicaemia can be difficult to recognise in the early stages. The symptoms usually start like many mild illnesses, with fever, vomiting, headache and feeling generally unwell. Not everyone will have all of the symptoms and these can appear in any order. Other common signs and symptoms include a stiff neck, cold hands and feet, dislike of bright lights, shivering, confusion, drowsiness, seizures, a rash that does not fade under pressure, rapied breathing, stomach pain - sometimes with diarrhoea, pale or mottled skin and pains in the limbs, joints and muscles. People with meningitis or septicaemia can become ill very quickly. Urgent medical treatment is essential as the sooner it can be diagnoed and treated, the greater chance there is of a full recovery. If you are worried about yourself or one of your friends, call your GP surgery or health centre immediately for advice or NHS24 on 08454 24 24 24. For more information about the signs and symptoms of meningitis or septicaemia contact the NHS helpline on 0800 22 44 88 or visit the NHS24 meningitis online information by clicking here
